‘Hearts of Stone’ was written by Eddie Ray and Rudy Jackson a member of a San Bernardino, California-based rhythm and blues vocal group the Jewels who released the first recording in September 1954. It was quickly covered by other artists but the version by The Charms released in November 1954 became a hit on both the R&B and pop charts.
The biggest selling version was by tHe Fontane Sisters released in December 1954.
